David Humphreys

David Humphreys has served as CEO since 1994 for TAMKO Building Products LLC, founded in 1944 and one of the nation’s largest residential roofing manufacturers. He also serves as Chairman for each of Envision Building Products LLC, a manufacturer of composite decking and aluminum architectural railing systems, regional homebuilder American Southern Homes LLC, and ELC Capital, his family investment firm.  Prior to TAMKO, David was a corporate tax attorney in New York and Paris at Davis Polk & Wardwell specializing in complex cross-border transactions.

David’s philanthropy focuses on advancing personal liberty and free-market principles by his service on the Executive Committee of the Board of the Cato Institute, as Executive Committee Chairman for the Institute for Humane Studies, and as Chairman of the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion & Liberty. He was a former Chair of the Board of Regents for The University of the South in Sewanee, TN. To enable educational opportunities for young people, he and his wife Debra founded the Pre-K – 12 Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School, endowed a Chair in Criminal Justice Advocacy at University of Miami Law School, endowed scholarships at Missouri Southern State University, and founded Joplin Historical Neighborhoods to create historic house museums in the Historic District in his hometown of Joplin, MO.

David holds a BA from the University of the South (Sewanee, TN), a JD from the University of Miami (FL), and an LLM (tax) from New York University.
